DOWNSTAIRS — COMMON AREAS

Entry / Foyer

DAILY
  • Pick up anything off the floor that doesn't belong there
  • Put shoes away in their proper place
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop
  • Wipe front door glass insert inside and out
  • Dust pendant light fixture globe and hardware
  • Wipe entry shelf/rack surfaces and dust any decor
  • Dust arched wall niche ledge and any decor on it
  • Wipe white baseboards
  • Wipe front door surface and smart lock handle
MONTHLY
  • Deep clean front door glass insert
  • Wipe arched doorframe and surrounding walls

Staircase

DAILY
  • Pick up anything left on the steps and return to its home
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum each carpeted stair tread individually
  • Wipe white railing and banisters (constant hand contact)
  • Wipe newel posts top and bottom
  • Spot wipe scuffs on staircase walls along full height
MONTHLY
  • Wipe white stair risers (vertical face of each step)
  • Wipe all spindles/banisters individually
  • Deep vacuum stair carpet edges and corners
White railing shows hand oils quickly. Weekly wipe-downs prevent visible buildup.

Main Hallway / Stair Landing

DAILY
  • Return any items left in the hallway to their proper place
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop (twice a week recommended — highest traffic area)
  • Dust arched wall niche ledge and decorative items
  • Wipe air purifier exterior
  • Wipe white baseboards along the full hallway
  • Spot wipe wall scuffs near staircase and corridor
  • Wipe light switch plates
MONTHLY
  • Deep mop tile grout lines
  • Check and clean air purifier filter per manufacturer schedule
This hallway connects every part of the house and the front door. Mop twice a week for best results.

Living Room

DAILY
  • Return any items to their proper place
  • Fluff and straighten couch and chair cushions
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop
  • Vacuum area rug (light cream rug shows dirt and stains fast)
  • Vacuum tufted sectional — fabric, between cushions, and in button creases
  • Brush/vacuum velvet barrel chairs with upholstery attachment
  • Wipe coffee table surface, lower shelf, and carved legs
  • Dust floor lamp shades and bases
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe fireplace mantle surface and dust any decor
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
MONTHLY
  • Move furniture and mop under the area rug
  • Spot-treat tufted sectional fabric
  • Deep clean coffee table carved base
  • Clean inside fireplace if used

Family Room

DAILY
  • Clear ottoman and couch surfaces — return items to their place
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor edges and under furniture, then mop
  • Vacuum area rug
  • Wipe faux leather sectional, chair, and ottoman with a damp cloth and mild soap
  • Wipe ceiling fan blades
  • Wipe window blinds and French door glass panels
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
MONTHLY
  • Move furniture and mop under area rug
  • Wipe faux leather thoroughly with a slightly damp cloth to remove any buildup
  • Dust recessed lighting rims

Kitchen

DAILY
  • Wipe island countertop after every meal
  • Wipe all other countertops after cooking
  • Wipe stovetop after each use
  • Rinse and wipe sink
  • Sweep floor
  • Put away anything left on the counters that doesn't belong
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop (most important mop in the house)
  • Wipe all white cabinet fronts (fingerprints and grease show badly on white)
  • Wipe stainless refrigerator with stainless steel cleaner
  • Wipe double oven exterior
  • Wipe microwave exterior
  • Dust and wipe open shelving unit
  • Wipe tile/quartz backsplash for grease and splatter
  • Wipe white paneled island sides
  • Wipe window blinds
MONTHLY
  • Clean inside microwave
  • Degrease stovetop grates and oven exterior
  • Wipe inside of refrigerator
  • Clean cabinet interiors
  • Dust recessed lighting rims

Dining Room

DAILY
  • Clear and wipe table after meals
  • Push chairs back in
WEEKLY
  • Wipe dining table surface and carved/decorative base
  • Lint-roll or dry brush velvet chair seats and backs (do NOT use a wet cloth on velvet)
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop
  • Dust chandelier fixture and glass shades
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Wipe toy bin organizer frame and bins
MONTHLY
  • Deep clean chandelier glass shades
  • Wipe chair legs
Rust/terracotta velvet chairs — always use a dry lint roller or upholstery brush. A wet cloth will leave watermarks on velvet.
DOWNSTAIRS — BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS

Downstairs Bathroom

DAILY
  • Wipe sink and black faucet (matte black shows water spots immediately)
  • Quick wipe of toilet seat and lid
  • Wipe tub surround after showering
WEEKLY
  • Scrub toilet bowl; disinfect tank, seat, lid, base, and behind the bowl
  • Scrub sink basin; clean around faucet base; wipe countertop and cabinet fronts
  • Wipe mirror with glass cleaner, top to bottom
  • Scrub tub surface and tile walls; wipe soap shelf and faucet
  • Shake out shower curtain; check liner for mildew
  • Sweep/vacuum floor (hair), then mop
  • Empty trash can
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe baseboards
MONTHLY
  • Wash shower curtain and liner in washing machine
  • Clean inside vanity cabinet
  • Dust light fixture
  • Deep scrub grout lines on tile walls and floor
  • Empty and wipe out trash can

Downstairs Guest Room

DAILY
  • Make the bed
  • Return any items to their place

  • Dust ceiling fan light covers
  • Wipe walls and door frames for scuffs

Office / Den

DAILY
  • Clear desk surface and return any items that don't belong
WEEKLY
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop
  • Wipe desk surface, keyboard, and mouse
  • Wipe monitor screens with dry microfiber only
  • Wipe office chair mesh back and seat; check wheels for hair buildup
  • Wipe leather chairs with damp cloth or leather wipe
  • Wipe weight bench with disinfectant
  • Wipe inversion table with disinfectant
  • Wipe fan blades and housing
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
MONTHLY
  • Move workout equipment and mop underneath

Laundry Room

DAILY
  • Clean lint trap after EVERY load — not weekly, every single load
WEEKLY
  • Wipe washer top and control panel
  • Pull back washer door gasket/seal and wipe inside the fold (mold grows here)
  • Wipe dryer top and control panel
  • Wipe countertop/folding surface
  • Wipe all shelving unit shelves (detergent drips on every shelf)
  • Wipe wood cabinet fronts
  • Sweep/vacuum tile floor, then mop
  • Wipe window blinds
MONTHLY
  • Pull washer and dryer out; mop behind and underneath both machines
  • Run washer cleaning cycle (Affresh tablet or hot water + white vinegar)
  • Clean dryer exhaust vent hose — lint buildup is a FIRE HAZARD
  • Wipe walls around machines for detergent splatter
  • Organize product bottles on shelves; wipe before returning
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
  • Wipe fluorescent light fixture cover
FIRE SAFETY: Clean the dryer exhaust vent hose every month. Lint buildup in the vent is the leading cause of dryer fires.

Under-Stairs Closet

MONTHLY
  • Vacuum carpet floor
  • Wipe down wire shelf
  • Dust walls and ceiling angles (odd angles trap cobwebs)
  • Wipe baseboards inside
UPSTAIRS — KIDS' AREA

Hallway to Girls' Rooms

DAILY
  • Return any items left in the hallway to their proper place
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum carpet
  • Spot wipe scuffs and fingerprints on walls
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Wipe light switch plates
  • Wipe both sides of all doors and door frames
MONTHLY
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
  • Wipe door hinges and hardware

Kids' Bathroom

DAILY
  • Wipe both sinks and countertop
  • Quick wipe of toilet seat and lid
  • Put away any items left on the counter
WEEKLY
  • Scrub both sink basins; clean chrome faucets; wipe full countertop
  • Wipe wood cabinet fronts
  • Wipe mirror with glass cleaner
  • Dust Hollywood light bar bulbs and fixture
  • Scrub toilet bowl; disinfect seat, lid, tank, and base (separate water closet)
  • Scrub tub/shower — tub surface, tile walls, chrome fixtures, and shower head
  • Check shower curtain liner for mildew
  • Sweep/vacuum floor, then mop
  • Empty trash can
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe both sides of all doors and frames
  • Wipe baseboards
MONTHLY
  • Wash shower curtain and liner in washing machine
  • Deep scrub tile grout on floor and tub walls
  • Clean inside all vanity cabinets and drawers
  • Dust light fixture
  • Empty and wipe out trash can
Two sinks + a separate water closet = two areas to clean. Close the toilet room door when cleaning the vanity area to contain spray.

Chloe's Bedroom

DAILY
  • Make the bed

  • Return any items on the floor to their place
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum carpet
  • Wipe ceiling fan blades
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe makeup vanity surface, vanity mirror, and all product shelves
  • Wipe full-length mirror with glass cleaner
  • Dust dresser top; wipe drawer fronts
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Spot wipe walls for scuffs and fingerprints
MONTHLY
  • Dust ceiling fan light covers
  • Vacuum under the bed, dresser, and vanity edges
  • Wipe vanity shelving thoroughly (makeup residue and hairspray film builds up)
  • Dust ceiling corners for cobwebs
  • Empty, wipe, and reline trash can
With a makeup vanity in use daily, hairspray and product dust coat surfaces faster than a typical bedroom. Vanity mirror and nearby shelves may need attention more often than monthly.

Juliet's Bedroom

DAILY
  • Make both beds
  • Put clothes in hamper
  • Return toys and items to their place
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum carpet
  • Wipe ceiling fan blades and light covers
  • Dust dresser top; wipe drawer fronts
  • Dust shelving unit and items on shelves
  • Wipe rolling cart shelves
  • Wipe white bed frames and drawer fronts (fingerprints show on white wood)
  • Vacuum closet floor; wipe closet shelving
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe baseboards
MONTHLY
  • Pull out under-bed drawers and vacuum underneath and in drawer tracks
  • Dust ceiling fan light covers
  • Wipe wall decals gently with barely damp cloth
  • Vacuum closet floor corners and along baseboards

Rowan's Bedroom

DAILY

Circle Room (Music Room)

  • Dust keyboard with dry microfiber cloth
  • Dust drum pads, cymbals, and kit frame with dry microfiber
  • Wipe desk/table surface
  • Wipe window blinds
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Vacuum ceiling vent cover
MONTHLY
  • Wipe keyboard keys with slightly damp cloth (skin oils build up)
  • Dust drum kit frame, pedals, and cymbal stands thoroughly
  • Vacuum behind and under all equipment stands
  • Wipe walls around equipment area for scuffs
  • Dust recessed light fixture
Cables must be cleared before vacuuming every time. Keeping cables coiled after use makes weekly cleaning significantly faster.

TV Loft Area

DAILY
  • Return any items, food, and drinks to their proper place
  • Straighten couch cushions
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum carpet (may need twice a week with regular snacking)
  • Vacuum couch cushions, between cushions, and under the recliners
  • Wipe TV screen with dry microfiber only
  • Wipe TV stand glass shelves; dust gaming consoles and devices
  • Wipe gymnastics air track surface with damp cloth
  • Wipe gymnastics mat/block with disinfectant
  • Wipe window blinds (all three windows)
  • Wipe baseboards
  • Wipe ceiling fan blades
MONTHLY
  • Move air track and vacuum carpet underneath thoroughly
  • Move couches and vacuum underneath
  • Spot-treat couch fabric for any stains
  • Dust ceiling fan light fixture
  • Wipe TV stand frame
The air track covers a large carpet area and traps dust, hair, and debris underneath. Move it monthly at minimum.

Homeschool Loft Area

DAILY
  • Return all items to their proper place — clear floor and desk surfaces before starting the day
WEEKLY
  • Vacuum carpet (largest carpeted area in the house)
  • Wipe both desk surfaces
  • Wipe monitor screens with dry microfiber only
  • Dust both bookshelves — shelves and book/item spines
  • Dust armoire/dresser top; wipe cabinet doors
  • Wipe all shelves on the rolling art/supply cart
  • Wipe ceiling fan blades
  • Wipe window blinds (all three windows)
  • Wipe baseboards along full room perimeter
MONTHLY
  • Move gymnastics bar and mat; vacuum underneath
  • Move furniture and vacuum edges and corners of room
  • Check and clean office chair wheels (hair wraps around wheels on carpet)
  • Dust ceiling fan light fixture
  • Spot wipe walls for scuffs
Homeschool + gymnastics + art/craft means debris variety is high. Office chair wheels collect hair on carpet — cut out any wrapped hair monthly.
MASTER SUITE

Master Bedroom

DAILY
  • Make the bed

  • Wipe ceiling fan blades
  • Wipe all window blinds (4+ windows)
  • Dust dresser and nightstand surfaces; wipe fronts
  • Dust TV mount and surrounding wall area

  • Wipe baseboards along full perimeter
MONTHLY
  • Vacuum under and around the bed
  • Dust tray ceiling ledge thoroughly
  • Dust ceiling fan light covers
  • Wipe down any mirrors in the room

Master Bathroom

  • Scrub garden tub surface and tile surround; clean faucet
  • Clean glass shower — squeegee glass, scrub floor, clean door track
  • Scrub toilet bowl; disinfect tank, seat, lid, and base
  • Sweep/vacuum floor, then mop (large format tile)
  • Empty trash can
  • Wipe window blinds
MONTHLY
  • Deep clean glass shower door with lime/calcium remover
  • Clean inside all vanity drawers and cabinets
  • Dust and wipe light fixture bulbs
  • Empty and wipe out trash can
The glass shower door track collects soap scum fast. Check and clean it every week — don't let it sit.

Master Closets (both)
